The church of St Peter and St Paul at Great Somerford is largely a 15'th century structure. Though traces of an earlier church were found when work was done around the base of the tower. The casual eye will note the in-balance between the nave and the chancel which results from the rebuilding of the South wall to widen the nave. There is also a much narrower north arcade which holds an octagonal 15'th century font. The chancel with its ornate ceiling was rebuilt in the 19'th century.
This church is well set back from a bend in the road, fronted by a small grazing pasture. With access along the side of private drive. The well kept graveyard is surrounded by mature trees and extends towards the river Avon which separates the villages of Great Somerford from Little Somerford.
This church is normally open and was photographed in June 2010 for theChurchPhotographer.
