This is a church I always feel moved to reassure. “Look” I say “You've got fine bones and you command an excellent position, someday your prince will come”. And that's just it, enviably located on a hillside to the south of the village this church promises a treat behind its barred door. But once open everything seems faded. There are the normal notices and a box for offerings, but nothing that speaks of recent love. Old folklore suggests that tears will bring on a recalcitrant spring, perhaps this church needs a few of those tears?.
Christianity came early to this fertile region and it's quite likely that a church was to be found in this village before the 9'th century. The current structure dates predominantly from the 13'th century, with the addition of a 15'th century tower. The romans were not blind to the prosperity of this area and it is suggested that the church is on the the site of an old romano villa.
The graveyard is well kept. This church is usually open.
